What is the slope of the parallel line if a line is parallel to the line for the equation: (1/2)y = (1/2)x

The slopes of 2 parallel lines are
equal.

We'll have to put the equation of the line in the
standard form:

y = ax + b, where a = m is the slope and b
is y intercept.

If the equation of the line
is:

(1/2)y = (1/2)x - 9

We'll
have to divide both sides by (1/2):

y = [(1/2)/(1/2)]x -
9*2

y = x -
18

It is obvious that m = 1 and n is
-18.

The slope of the parallel line is m =
1.

Comment on the setting and character of "The Fall of the House of Usher."How does setting act as a character?

Excellent observation, as it identifies how the settings of Poe's stories reflect the characters of their protagonists. Whet...
