The sarcolemma is the thin, transparent cell membrane of a
striated muscle cell, consisting of a plasma membrane and an outer coat. The motor
endplate is a specific part of the sarcolemma that contains acetylcholine (ACH)
receptors and helps form the neuromuscular junction (the region of the muscle cell where
a motor neuron stimulates the cell to contract).
