The Chocolate
War is considered young adult fiction (YA) and was published
in 1974, and probably written a year or two before it was published, maybe in 1972, or
1973. The book is very controversial because of the setting, in a catholic High School
that centers on the bullies of the school and the way they run the school. There is also
harsh language in the book adding to its controversial
nature.

I believe that the book was later made into a movie
and that there is a sequel to the novel entitled, Beyond the
Chocolate War. This sequel, one can reason, deals with after
what happens to the gang or further follows their exploits as they control the school
and possibly lose their control on everyone and everything at the
school.
