What does non-fiction mean?

Non-fiction is a term applied to literary works.  The term
implies that the subject matter of the reading material is truth.  When searching for
materials that fit this description one may come across autobiographies, manuals, how-to
books, and books based on subject matter such as science, math, or other learned
materials.

In the library fiction, books that are created
stories or information is located separately from books that are non-fiction.  The term
non-fiction implies that the material is based on truth, is reliable, and accurate.  If
the material is a memoir or biography the term implies that the person being written
about had the actual experiences as written in the
book.

Non-fiction has also been applied loosely to some
movies.
