I think you could find a lot of material as well if you
looked at the following conflicts:

-The "settlers" in the
United States vs. the Native American population.  If you look at the results of our
forcing them onto reservations and the subsequent degradation of their culture and
lifestyle, you might find some pretty ugly
consequences.

-You could take a close look at the end of
WWII and though it is a war we often think had some closure, etc., it would be very
straightforward to make arguments about the lasting consequences in so many places,
Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia, Africa, etc. there are plenty of devestating effects to
discuss.
