Are there any examples of rebuttal?

By rebuttal, I assume that you mean debating. There are
several examples of debating in Farenheit 451. A notable example would be the argument
between Montag and Beatty. This discussion is interesting is interesting in that Beatty
actually uses the books that Montag has come to admire to rebutt Montag's newfound
fondness and fascination with books. Beatty quotes many prominent authors and
intellectuals, including Sir Philip Sidney and Alexander Pope. Thereby, Beatty argues
that books are merely a source of controversy, and that anything written in one book is
probably completely contradicted in another book. It is ironic that Beatty, whose job is
to destroy books, is so knowledgeable of many works or literature and capable of
skillfully debating based on his knowledge.
