What is the best way to treat arthritis & also possible ways to prevent it??

The best treatment for your arthritis depends upon what
type of arthritis it is. Many types of arthritis exist, some have relatively minor
symptoms and require little treatment, others cause severe inflammation, pain,
disability and respond best to more extensive treatment
regimens.

Your physican can best assess this disorder and
recommend treatment options.

Essentially, arthritis is
inflammation of an articulation (joint). A few examples are: Gouty arthritis or gout
which is caused by a buildup of uric acid in the blood. Gout is individualized and may
be mild or extremely severe. In the worse cases of gout the hands or feet swell up
dramatically, the fingers can swell up to 4-5 times the normal size. This causes
excruciating pain and immobility of the joints. Several medications are used in the
treatment of gout.

Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune
disease, hence nothing can be done to prevent it. RA is a chronic systemic inflammatory
response, not just localized in any one joint. Like GA, RA also causes severe signs and
symptoms.

Most of us, as we age experience some degree of
osteoarthritis. This is a general age related deterioration of the articular cartilage
between all bones and joints. This form to may present as a mild or severe case and
treatment depends on the severity.

Maintaining good bone
and joint health may help to fend off some milder forms of arthritis. Adequate vitamin
and mineral nutrition coupled with regular exercise is the best method of
prevention.
