What is cerebral compression?

Cerebral compression or compression of brain is a very
serious health problem in which there is build up of excessive pressure on the brain.
This kind of pressure can be caused by several conditions such as accumulation of blood
within brain, swelling of brain tissues due to injury, or a tumour. Many times such
pressure builds up following a head injury. It may also follow occurrences such as
stroke or brain infection.


Whenever a person has received
injury on head, it is advisable to watch out for possibility of build up of cerebral
pressure. A case of brain compression can be recognized by deteriorating level of
response. Some symptoms associated with brain compression
are:


  • drowsiness,

  • intense
    headache,

  • noisy breathing becoming
    slow,

  • slow, yet strong
    pulse,

  • unequal pupil size,
    and

  • weakness or paralysis down one side of
    body.
