What benefit is the teacher trying to derive from this?(A Elm/Midd teacher) Prior to teaching genre, the teacher discusses this literary...

If you are stating that the teacher gives the kids clues
to remember the meaning of the word "genre" then the answer would be 1, because she is
using context clues for kids to inder meaning and improve factual recall

If the teacher is explaining genre in order
to start a new text then the answer would be 2, explaining text structure to understand
new text. if this is in fact what the teacher is doing, it is important because you need
to explain what something is prior to teaching it, so that the author's purpose can be
both understood and appreciated in the text. This question had very little to do with
recalling, and more to do with explaining what is genre.
