This is something of an academic question, where we just
have to guess what would even be surviving in 2000 years, but it is an interesting
concept.
Assuming that the United States as a country or
an empire would be long gone by then, some of our steel and stone structures might still
survive, probably in large and in eastern cities. Since more structures in Europe and
the Middle East and Asia are constructed basically out of stone as opposed to cement,
then what would survive would be temples and cathedrals, buildings of government and
somewhat by trade. They would appear as ruins much like what is in Egypt, Greece and
Italy today, but these things would undoubtedly mark us as empires, centers of commerce
and trade, and very spiritual and religious peoples.
The
key difference in this scenario is that today's societies incredible amounts of written
records and photographic records, so peoples of the future probably wouldn't have to
guess as much as we do with ancient societies.
