The term hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia is used to
refer to the fear of long words.
Those affected by
hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia claim that it causes panic attacks and keeps them
away from friends, colleagues and family members. It also leads to rapid breathing,
sweating, an overall feeling of dread, shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat and
nausea, whenever long words are heard.
In a good way it may
let you live your life with just the use of words that have two or less syllables.
(Sorry, I couldn't find a shorter word for syllables)
