I need double-checking on my grammar corrections of misplaced and dangling modifiers.I've rewritten the following sentences to avoid misplaced or...

Keep in mind that a misplaced modifier often makes the
sentence sound like the wrong noun is doing or receiving the action of the verb.  You've
done well by correcting the 2nd sentence to make sure "parents" weren't receiving "my
diploma."  Another way to change this is to simply change the order of the
sentence:

readability="6">

While receiving my diploma, I noticed my parents
standing at the back of the
hall.

Sentence number one is
tricky because the "trap" is not the thing "hoping" to catch the mouse, however, the
one hoping is unnamed.  In this case, I would advise changing the
order of the sentence, rather than introduce a person who does not yet
exist:

A trap
baited with cheese was left under the sink in hope of catching the
mouse.
