In The Crucible, what is an example of intolerance?

It seems to me the fact that there is little in way of
understanding present in the entire town is representative of intolerance.  The basic
premise of the accusations of witchcraft themselves are examples of intolerance.  The
belief that someone is a witch and they need to die because of it is the most elemental
example of intolerance.  There is little in way of diversity and heterogeneity in
Salem.  The fact that people in the town were petrified of the accusation of witchcraft
proves that there was an intolerant basis in the town. At the same time, there was a
lack of willingness in understanding other people.  When individuals were accused of
being a witch, no one provided defenses or justifications or even mere opportunities to
explain themselves.  There was a demand of confession or death.  Such a harsh stance is
another example of intolerance.  This intolerance is only heightened by the manufactured
nature of the accusations.
